The AtariBox – Here’s What The New Atari Console Looks Like
“ATARI” has just revealed new images of its next console, “the Ataribox”, which , most likely, will make the nostalgic players from the 1980’s happy.
During the last E3, the chief executive officer of “ATARI” , “Fred Chesnais”, confirmed while in “Venturebeat” that the company is working on a new “retro” console. Then, this morning, the company released a couple of photos of its new rectangular wood console, which recalls the beautiful old days of the “ATARI 2600”.
The “AtariBox” will be functioning thanks to a technology based on that of a personal computer
Atari intends to benefit from the popularity of the retro games and consoles which make possible to play the old classics easily, a little like the “NES classic edition” (and the “Super Nintendo classic edition” which will be released in September).
In the meanwhile, few technical details were specified. The ATARI company posted the following on social media:
We want to make things the right way. We thus decided to share information as Ataribox takes life. At the same time, we will listen to the Atari community attentively.
For the time being, we know that the AtariBox will be equipped with an HDMI port, four USB ports and an entry for an SD card.
Atari also says:
We will propose classical contents, but also more current games.
our objective is to create something new, that stays true to our heritage, while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari.
I think it looks really good!
